This pendant is one of a series of unique collaborative works containing New Zealand Aotea cabochons.
Aotea stone is unique to one small valley on the west coast of the South Island of Aotearoa (New Zealand). This is the only area in the world where Fuchsite and Kyanite are found together in a Quartz matrix. This makes it a very special stone of Aotearoa. Due to the layering of the minerals no two stones are ever the same, and the colour ranges between white/turquoise/green/blue/black. Aotea carries a very strong healing energy. The Aotea cabochon was carved by New Zealand carver Miki McPherson.
The Metatron's Cube is a Sacred Geometric diagram consisting of 13 circles with lines radiating out from the centre of each circle to the centres of all the other circles.
It holds within it both the Flower of Life (a powerful symbol containing the patterns of creation) and the Platonic Solids (Star Tetrahedron, Hexagon, Octahedron, Dodecahedron, and Icosahedron). These Platonic Solids are the building blocks of the universe and represent the five elements from which everything is made: fire, water, earth, air and aether. Therefore the Metatron's Cube is a universal Symbol of the interconnected nature of all things.
I handcut this sterling silver Metatron's Cube design using a tiny sawblade, (no casting or laser cutting!), and set a beautiful Aotea cabachon onto it using a lotus claw setting. This piece is 4cm in diameter, and is hung on a 45cm long sterling silver chain.
