This pendant is one of a series of unique works collaborating with designer @ifnotforgravity
It is named the " Staff of Thoth " due to the Egyptian deity Thoth being the ancient Egyptian version of the same archetype as the Greek Hermes. The design variation is a combination of the Greek Caduceus staff and the Egyptian Uraeus sacred serpent. In this variation the two serpents are coiled in helix around a winged staff which is holding a jeweled emblem representing the cardinal points and the Sun.
I handcut these layers of solid brass so that when put together, they form the Caduceus design. I cut them by hand using a tiny sawblade(no casting or lasercutting!), and riveted them together using sterling silver rivets. I set a rose cut red garnet cabochon in the central orb.
This pendant is 7cm in length, and is hung on a 60cm sterling silver chain.
