Egyptian Adventures and Inspiration: A Connection with the Ancient World

You may have noticed an ongoing Egyptian influence in many of my jewellery designs, and if you’re wondering where this fascination comes from, I’d love to share the story behind it. For those who aren’t familiar, here’s a little glimpse into my personal connection with Egypt and how it has inspired so much of my creative work.

In 2016, my husband and I embarked on a life-changing journey to Egypt to explore its ancient sites and experience the magic of this remarkable place first-hand. Having spent a lifetime reading books and watching documentaries about Egypt, I had always been captivated by its history, ancient sites, symbols, and culture. But nothing could truly prepare me for the incredible experience of being there.

One of the most amazing moments of our trip was when we had the incredible privilege of having our wedding ceremony inside the Kings Chamber of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Being inside the Great Pyramid was an experience I will never forget. The sheer energy of the pyramid and the history that echoed through its stones left me with a deeper sense of awe and reverence for this ancient land.

Over the years, my fascination with Egyptian symbols, mythology, and history has only deepened. I feel there is something very special about Egypt – a deep, ancient knowledge that resonates through the land, and something I believe we are only just beginning to understand. For me, recreating symbols and figures from ancient Egypt in my jewellery is a way to connect with that energy, to explore these ancient ideas, and to create a deeper understanding of this extraordinary civilization.

Egypt’s art and architecture has had an immense impact on my work. Every time I incorporate an Egyptian symbol or motif, it feels like a bridge between the past and present, linking me to a world that continues to inspire awe and wonder.

Creating pieces inspired by ancient Egypt isn’t just about the aesthetic – it’s about bringing the energy and symbolism of this remarkable culture into the present, allowing it to speak through the jewellery I make. I believe these symbols hold a deeper truth that transcends time, and I feel incredibly privileged to be able to recreate and share them in my own way.
