FAQs

Do you accept custom orders?

Absolutely! I love creating custom pieces. To start the process, please visit my contact page for more details. Custom orders typically take 2-6 weeks, depending on design complexity, materials, and urgency.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! I provide FREE shipping worldwide, so you can enjoy my jewelry wherever you are :)

How long will it take for my piece to arrive?

For delivery times, please refer to the Shipping section of my website for detailed information.

How should I care for my jewellery?

To keep your jewellery looking its best, avoid contact with personal care products, chlorine, saltwater, and excessive heat.

Precious metals may tarnish from skin contact or perspiration. To restore shine, use a high-quality silver polishing cloth. For those hard-to-reach areas, gently clean with a soft-bristled toothbrush and warm, soapy water.

When not in use, store your jewellery in a box or pouch to keep it safe.

What saw do you use?

I use a Green Lion piercing saw for all my pieces. It's comfortable and allows me to change blades easily, making the process smoother. You can find this sawframe in my Tools section when it's in stock—sign up to my mailing list for updates! I also have a blog post about the Green Lion sawframe, you can find it here

What size and type of saw blades do you use?

I use saw blades ranging from 2/0 to 6/0, depending on the design's intricacy and the metal thickness. For thicker materials like 1.5mm sterling silver, I use a 2/0 blade, while more delicate, intricate designs require a 6/0 blade. My preferred brand is Glardon Vallorbe Swiss Made Round Back. I have a blog post where I share my opinion on a range of sawblade brands here

What gauge of metal do you use?

I work with metal thicknesses ranging from 0.4mm to 1.5mm, depending on the complexity of the design.

What kind of drill bits do you use?

I use high-quality Panther (Germany) and Densply (Switzerland) drill bits, typically in sizes ranging from 0.5mm to 1.5mm, depending on the design and rivet size.

Why don't you use laser cutting?

While laser cutting is a valid form of manufacturing, it doesn't suit what I'm trying to achieve with my jewellery. I believe the feeling of the piece is just as important as the design itself. The whole process from beginning to end has an effect on the energy of the finished piece. I have a whole blog post dedicated to why I handcraft my work, feel free to check it out!

How do you transfer your designs onto the metal?

My secret? I draw my designs onto label paper and adhere it to the metal (sanding the metal first helps with this). Once I’ve hand-cut the design, I simply remove the sticker by soaking the piece in water.

Do you offer wholesale?

If you’re looking to place an order of 5 or more pieces, or are a gallery owner interested in stocking my jewellery, feel free to email me at jean.burgers@gmail.com to discuss wholesale options.

What currency are the prices on your website?

Prices are listed in AUD (Australian Dollars), but you can select a different currency using the drop-down menu at the top right of the site. Please note that at checkout, the price will often revert to AUD.

Where can I purchase the calipers you use?

You can find my favourite Golden Mean Calipers and other essential tools in the Tools section of my online store.

Do you take on apprentices?

At this time, I am not accepting apprentices. Thank you for your interest!
