This pendant is one of a series of unique works I created depicting Planespheric Astrolabe devices.
Planespheric Astrolabes were historically used by astronomers and navigators to measure the inclined position in the sky of a celestial body, day or night. The word astrolabe means "the one that catches the heavenly bodies".
I handcut this copper faceplate using traditional hand sawing techniques and riveted it onto an etched copper backing, using sterling silver rivets.
This pendant is 3.5cm in diameter, and is hung on a 45cm sterling silver chain.
Your purchase will come carefully packaged in a black pendant box.
