Planespheric Astrolabes were historically used by astronomers and navigators to measure the inclined position in the sky of a celestial body, day or night. The word astrolabe means "the one that catches the heavenly bodies".
I handcut these layers of sterling silver and oxidised copper to create this design. I cut them by hand using a tiny sawblade (no lasers!), and riveted them together with sterling silver rivets. I set a beautiful deep blue sapphire cabochon into the centre of the Astrolabe.
This pendant is 3cm in diameter, and is hung on a 45cm sterling silver chain.
Your purchase will come carefully packaged in a black pendant box.
