Jewelry Cleaning Guide
How to Clean & Maintain Your Jewelry
Keep your jewelry looking brilliant without damaging it's beautiful, intentional oxidation. Follow these three simple steps for at-home care:
1. Pre-Wash & Soak (use this step only if your jewelry has a lot of buildup over years of wear, otherwise skip to step number 2).
• Soften buildup: Mix a few drops of mild dish soap into a bowl of warm water.
• Soak for 5 minutes: This gently loosens skin oils and dust without affecting the dark, intentional oxidation layer.
• Gently scrub: Use a very soft toothbrush to clear away loose debris from the detailed grooves.
• Rinse: Hold the pendant under running water to clear away the soap.
2. Polish the Outer Layers
• Target the high points: Use a specialized jewelry polishing cloth, such as a Sunshine Cloth or Connoisseurs silver cloth.
• Buff carefully: Rub the raised metal sections gently until they shine, being extra careful around any gems or claws. The cloth will remove surface tarnish without touching the recessed, blackened background.
3. Rinse & Dry
• Final rinse: Wash the pendant thoroughly in clean water to remove any leftover cloth residue.
• Dry completely: Pat dry with a clean towel. Ensure no moisture is trapped, as this can cause uneven tarnishing later.
